Jan Krist & Whit Hill

We were very pleased to have two of the finest singer/songstresses from the Detroit area for our first house concert of 2006 - Jan Krist and Whit Hill. Ben first met Jan at Lamb's Songwriter's Retreat and hosted her for a house concert in 2005, and had never met Whitley until this evening. What a night of music! Jan played a short set first, featuring songs from her albums including her latest When Planets Collide. Her voice and delivery kept the rapt attention of the audience. Then Whitley came to the stage, and her wry observations of life from the most unusual of perspectives had everyone laughing. Jan was accompanied by her husband Alan on dumbek and shaker, while Whit had her own Al - playing Ben's Collings OM2H guitar. After a short break, everyone returned to perform, joined by audience-member Annie Capps and her husband Rod. A free-for-all of collaboration ensued, culminating in the three ladies doing their best Martha and the Vandellas impersonation on a rolicking rendition of Heatwave!
